In 1990, after having a successful career spanning more than 20 years in the human relations field, she decided to pursue a long time dream of becoming an artist. She enrolled in art classes at Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario. In 1993, Roseanne began studying at the Cincinnati Art Academy, and participated in shows and exhibitions in the area. She won her 1st “Best in Show” in the Wyoming Arts Exhibition. In 1996 she moved to Florence, Italy, and apprenticed with Alvaro Baragli, an established abstract expressionist painter, over the next four years. It was in Italy that she had her first solo exhibition “Poetic Interpretations,” at Ken’s Art Gallery-the premier contemporary art gallery in Florence. In 2000, she had exhibitions in Galleria Via Larga, SIAE Societa, and Museo Giulio Gasparri, Populonia, Italy.
In 2001, a new assignment for her husband took them to the Chicago area, and she continued studying there at the Evanston Art Center, and privately with Janis Pozzi-Johnson.
“Places that have provided inspiration for my paintings have been walks on the white sandy beaches with grassy dunes on Cape Cod, dazzling floral gardens at the Chicago Botanical Gardens, the teal green ocean and palm trees in Florida, and the magnificent Italian landscape. The ability to travel extensively throughout the world has provided me a wonderful opportunity to work closely with accomplished artists, as well as study the works of famous artists in museums around the world. It is these experiences that have shaped my style and technique.”
