Joanne Singer

Joanne creates her works in clay, then has them pored in bronze. This process is called the lost wax method. It is thousands of years old, and has virtually remained the same through time.

“ I call my most recent series of sculptures, “Earth Mothers”.

The ancient goddesses, such as “the Venus of Willendorf” inspire these. My figures are broad hipped. Their bodies are comprised of very round stylized forms. Their faces are featureless. I feel that this allow them a universality. I have traveled extensively and fell that this has greatly influenced my work. Several visit to India have had a marked impact on my sculpture”. Joanne is graduated from the University of Delaware with a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and in Art History. She studied sculpture with Christopher Riccardo, Peter Rubino and Maritza Cornejo.
