Garth Decker has been working with ceramics since his high school days at Blair Academy, Blairstown, NJ. 1990. He has since been an art student at Syracuse University, Rochester Institute of Technology, SUNY New Paltz and San Deigo State. Early influences include Bennett Bean and Don Reitz, David MacDonald and Henry Gernhardt.

Considering himself a student of nature first, Garth has had the pleasure of creating in clay all across this beautiful land. Inspirations from palm trees, gourds, melons and mountains have been fused into his creations. Garth's creative process is full of wonder and joy reflecting upon special times experiencing and creating in nature. "I really enjoy the excitement that comes with each piece as it goes through its evolutionary proces. I do my best to let each piece breathe and come into its own paying attention to their own balance, weight, color, edge and texture.I enjoy facilitating their spontaneous growth."

Garth is co-owner and curator of The Garden of Goods Galleries in Hobe Sound, FL. His state of the art facility is open to the public and to students of all ages.
